The EDGE^R suite has made significant strides over the last year, introducing tools that enhance automation, improve accuracy, and streamline the precast concrete modeling process in Revit. These enhancements focus on automating tasks such as shop ticket generation, drawing creation, and model verification, ensuring a more efficient workflow from design to fabrication. Here are the key improvements:
Auto Ticket Generation
The Auto Ticket Generation tool enables users to generate comprehensive shop tickets for multiple selected assemblies at once. Based on a user-defined template, the tool automatically includes:
Assembly views with necessary dimensions and tags
A complete bill of materials
Standard details
A populated title block
This feature eliminates manual input, ensuring consistency and accuracy in ticket creation.
Match Top as Cast
The Match Top as Cast tool simplifies the process of aligning assembly origins in the model. Previously, the EDGE^R Top as Cast tool required running individually on each assembly. The enhanced tool allows users to quickly copy the assembly origin's position and orientation from one assembly to others, improving consistency and reducing errors in the model.
Copy Reinforcing
The Copy Reinforcing tool is designed to improve efficiency when dealing with reinforcement elements in precast concrete assemblies. It allows users to quickly replicate reinforcing components from one assembly to another, saving significant time and reducing manual input.
The tool duplicates all reinforcing elements from the selected assembly to the new assembly, including Reinforcement bars, Lifting elements, Strands, Mesh, and Spiral wire
- Seamless Replication: It ensures that all reinforcing components are accurately copied over, preserving the original design's integrity and alignment.
- Enhanced Accuracy: By automating the copying process, the tool minimizes human error in transferring reinforcing details between assemblies.
- Time Efficiency: This tool reduces the need for manual duplication of reinforcing elements, speeding up the process of assembly creation and modification.
In essence, the Copy Reinforcing tool simplifies the process of transferring reinforcing elements, ensuring consistency across multiple assemblies while saving time and reducing potential errors.
Automated Piece Marking
The Mark Verification tool helps users identify discrepancies between precast members with the same control mark. The enhancement allows for:
Comprehensive lists of failed comparisons
Detailed reports highlighting specific conditions causing failures (e.g., misaligned cutouts)
This tool ensures that all members within a mark group are identical and meet design specifications.
Assembly Creation Enhancement
This improvement adds the capability to analyze assemblies for intersections between material-type elements, such as embeds and reinforcing. If clashes are detected, the conflicting elements are highlighted in the model, providing users with a clear view of potential issues to resolve before moving forward.
Ticket Manager Enhancement
The Ticket Manager has been enhanced to allow users to add up to four custom columns. These columns can report parameter values on structural framing elements or assemblies. Additionally, two new default parameters have been added, enabling users to:
Add custom comments
Place a mark on hold
These improvements offer greater flexibility in managing project details and documentation.
The new EDGE^R tools are designed to streamline workflows, improve precision, and reduce errors across the precast concrete process, from design through fabrication. With these features, users can expect a more efficient and error-free experience in Revit.
